Murdered: Roderic Sterling of Copperas Cove, TX - 2005
On Saturday, September 10th, 2005, Roderic Deshawn “Rowdy” Sterling (22) from Killeen was discovered fatally shot in the 200 block of Gibson Street in Copperas Cove. His lifeless body was found inside his purple 1997 Chevrolet Suburban, which was tragically engulfed in flames. The circumstances surrounding his death are deeply disturbing.
He had approximately five years left on a 10-year probation. This probation was imposed by Judge Martha Trudo after she sentenced him on July 20, 2001, following his conviction for a deadly conduct offense that occurred seven months prior.
Trudo found Sterling guilty of firing a firearm in the direction of one or more individuals. Subsequently, on January 22, 2002, Sterling faced additional charges related to drug offenses. The combination of these legal matters paints a complex picture of his life and circumstances.
